Where do we source Botox from?

All our Botox is sourced from within the United States. Our providers are licensed, reputable, and well known in the field for providing the highest quality product.

What is Botox?

Botox® is derived from the clostridium botulinum Type-A, which is a natural organism. A neurotoxin, it is an injectable substance administered subcutaneously in a dermatologist’s office.

How does Botox work?

Injected in very small concentrations, the neurotoxin blocks nerve signals that otherwise tell muscles to contract. The paralyzed muscles thereby reduce lines such as crow’s feet and wrinkles. Botox also can be used to treat migraines, overactive bladder, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), muscle spasms, and many other conditions.

Is it safe?

Yes. Botox® has been FDA approved for decades and it is the single most common procedure performed by dermatologists. So long as it is administered by qualified professionals, the use of this neurotoxin for cosmetic or medical purposes is perfectly safe.

Will it hurt?

You might feel something like a mosquito bite when you’re injected, but the discomfort should be minimal.

What will my results look like?

Immediately after the treatment, you’ll probably see some swelling or redness at the site of the injections. That should go away within an hour or so. In 3-5 days, you’ll start to notice results from the treatment, whether it was to smooth wrinkles, lessen sweating, etc. Within 2 weeks, you should see visible results. You will still be able to move your face like normal after having Botox injections—the idea that you’ll have a frozen expression is a myth.

How long will my Botox treatment last?

Botox lasts anywhere from 3-6 months. Your own results will vary based on how strong the muscles that were treated were. After Botox wears away, the previous condition will return, whether facial lines, migraines, etc. Before the Botox wears off, you’ll need to make another appointment at SCCSJ to get another treatment and make sure you continue to enjoy the benefits.

What should I do or not do after treatment?

Don’t lie down for four hours. Make sure you keep your head and neck in a relaxed, upright position. Don’t touch the areas that received injections.

Who in your office will perform my Botox treatment?
