Restylane®

At some point or another, all of us look in the mirror and notice things we might like to change. Whether wrinkles, brow furrows, smile lines, or bags under our eyes, there are little things that many of us would like a solution for. And guess what? One exists. You may already be aware of the existence of dermal fillers, but do you know how they work? Restylane is one such filler and may very well be a solution for your cosmetic needs.

Dr. Adriana Lombardi will do your Restylane® consultation and will perform your Restylane® injections at the Skin Cancer and Cosmetic Surgery Center of NJ, located in a state-of-the-art facility in Edison, New Jersey. She has over seven years of experience in the field and has performed hundreds of Restylane® treatments in New Jersey.

What is Restylane?

Restylane® is a dermal filler, meaning it’s injected into areas of your face that have lost volume or need filling out. Like Juvederm, (another type of filler, manufactured by a different company), Restylane® is made of synthetic hyaluronic acids (HA), which is a naturally occurring substance that most living organisms contain. HA is attracted to water and has a gel-like texture that is great for injecting into facial hollows and fine lines. The key difference between Juvederm and Restylane® is that, while Juvéderm® spreads out, Restylane® stays in one place. That makes it a good choice for larger areas that have really lost volume and need a targeted plumping effect.

How does Restylane work?

Restylane® is a dermal filler and dermal fillers are sometimes used as injectables into arthritic knees to restore lost cushioning and prevent painful bone-on-bone friction. That same kind of ‘filling out’ effect is what makes Restylane® so great for deep facial hollows. When injected, it will literally plump up the treated areas, smoothing over fine lines, wrinkles, under-eye bags, etc.

Restylane® is administered while you’re resting comfortably in a chair. Dr. Lombardi will inject the parts of your face that the two of you have discussed during your consultation. Your treatment will take approximately thirty minutes, depending on how many areas you are having treated. Afterwards, you can go back to your daily routine immediately.

Is it safe?

Yes. Restylane® is FDA approved and totally safe.

Will it hurt?

You might feel a slight stinging for a few seconds after each injection. After the treatment, you could have some mild bruising or swelling, which will quickly subside. Other than that, discomfort is minimal.

What will my results look like?

The best way to learn what the results of Restylane® look like is to see pictures—and we have those! Take a look at the before and after shots on our procedure pages. The results are amazing! You should start seeing the full results approximately two weeks after treatment.

How long do results last?
