What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is the world’s most popular, non-invasive fat reduction treatment. It has revolutionized the body contouring industry by utilizing advanced cooling technology known as cryolipolysis. This procedure eliminates unwanted fat cells, safely, painlessly, and effectively. CoolSculpting is a FDA cleared treatment that is a great option for those who struggle with stubborn bulges of fat on the body.

There are many different areas that can be treated with CoolSculpting such as: love handles, belly fat, upper arm fat, bra bulge, thigh fat, double chins and other visible bulges. These treatments take as little as 35 minutes and require little to no downtime. It’s no wonder millions of men and women have chosen CoolSculpting as a non-surgical alternative to liposuction.

How does the procedure work?

CoolSculpting is performed by a doctor or licensed practitioner. During the procedure, an applicator is applied to the desired treatment area.  The device uses a cooling technology to freeze away the unwanted fat cells. The whole treatment time usually takes between 35-45 minutes depending on what applicator is used.

After the procedure is done, the fat cells break down over time and results usually show over the course of weeks to months following. Exercise and eating a healthy diet is encouraged for best results. There is little to no downtime after a CoolSculpting treatment. Patients can go back to their regular activities after the treatment.

How Effective is CoolSculpting

Side effects of CoolSculpting

Additionally, patients may experience the following side effects after a CoolSculpting treatment:

  • Pain, stinging or aching in the treated area. These symptoms can begin immediately after a CoolSculpting treatment or as much as two weeks after treatment and are generally nothing to be concerned about. They should only last a few days to one week and disappear on their own.
  • Redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the treatment site. These symptoms are typical after exposure to cold temperatures. Redness, swelling, and tenderness should subside after a few weeks.
  • Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia at the treatment site. This is a rare but serious side effect of CoolSculpting that predominantly affects men. Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia causes the fat cells to grow larger rather than smaller. The cause of this effect is not fully understood. This side effect is mainly cosmetic and not usually dangerous, but it does not disappear on its own.
